Action Groups
Action Groups Focus On Communications Technical Assistance Impact Assessment Support Procurement
Action Groups are the operational core of the South Kootenay Regional Economic Resilience Action Plan (ERAP). They are functional teams with defined mandates that can be activated individually or together, depending on the nature of an economic disruption.
Action Groups allow ERAP to move quickly from coordination to action by relying on existing organizations, expertise, and relationships, rather than creating new structures during a disruption.
How Action Groups Work
Only the Action Groups required for a specific situation are activated. This keeps the response focused, efficient, and proportionate. Action Groups:
- Are activation-based, not standing committees
- Have clear functional roles
- Scale up or down based on need
- Stand down once objectives are met
What Action Groups Do
Action Groups focus on coordination and gap-filling, not replacing the day-to-day work of partner organizations.. Depending on the situation, Action Groups may:
- Coordinate business and workforce supports
- Share timely and consistent economic information
- Assess economic impacts and recovery needs
- Address infrastructure, regulatory, or access barriers
- Support workforce stability and business continuity
- Align existing programs and resources
Types of Action Groups
Not all Action Groups are active at the same time. Activation depends on the type, scale, and duration of the disruption.. ERAP includes Action Groups covering key areas of economic resilience, including:
- Business technical assistance and financing
- Communications
- Economic impact assessment
- Economic infrastructure and utilities
- Workforce support
- Local procurement
- Regulatory and compliance coordination
- Psychosocial support
- Structures and access
Who Participates
Membership is role-based and flexible, allowing participation to evolve as people change roles or as new capacity is needed. Action Groups are made up of representatives from:
- Economic development and business support organizations
- Local and regional governments
- Workforce and social service agencies
- Industry and infrastructure partners
